Cabin in a Forest is the second of two homes recently completed in Leelanau County, located in Michigan's Upper Lower Peninsula. Situated within eyesight of the 'House in a Meadow', this home reflects the experimental nature of its counterpart. A split-level concrete slab creates a condensed entry that leads to a double height living room, sunken within the forest floor. Similar to the 'House in a Meadow', Douglas fir fins breach the building's envelope, echoing the columnar maples scattered throughout the surrounding native woodland.
